No doubt my metrics on good vs bad foreign policy are very poorly informed. Both Afghanistan and Iraq look like the worst failures since Vietnam to me. But what do I know compared to Clinton's and Obama's info about real vs fanciful alternatives? I just observe that even this latest horrific slaughter did not persuade Sanders, or me, to demote austerity and inequality from the TOP of the list of political priorities in this election; or tempt me to believe that further US military adventures in the Mid east will have the slightest (positive) impact on mass shootings in the US.
It's not that Clinton does not want to do the right thing about inequality, or violence. It's just that her calculations about the political center keep making it entirely reasonable to bump the key questions off the top of the to-do list
Is that better than Trump? Of course. But does it make you want to turn in yr weapons? Your choice.
What's this "Arm Up" and "blood-dimmed tide" stuff? I thought we put that rhetoric to bed a long time ago. And as a former Catholic, I was told that one sin (Hillary's) never negated another sin (Bernie's); even a good deed didn't clean the slate. We right off abandon the reluctance of Obama to to blow some more Mideast shit up?I confess a certain sexist error in tending to attribute Hillary's hawkish posture to a perception issue -- can a woman president pull the trigger? Its not just posture. There is ONLY ONE short term response to the Orlando shooting: ban ALL assault weapons. period. And enforce it. There's the rub. If you can't do that, then, just at least, please, tell the truth -- There is NO Protection against the insanities arising from this increasingly divided, unjustifiably unequal society. You better Arm UP and prepare yourself for the blood-dimmed tide.I see Sanders response -- ban the assault weapons -- did not stop him from remaining focused on the basics confronting our society. But doing so left him open to the accusation of be "tone deaf" to the importance and sensitivity to "hateful ideologies". I was prepared to consider that accusation until I heard Hillary -- and many others on the liberal side -- sing the true tone: go to war against "radical jihadism".NO thanks.John Case
